Rev. Fr. Joseph Vithayathil the Co founder of the Congregation of Holy Family was born on 23rd July 1865 as the second son of Anna and Yohannan Vithayathil at Mananbady, Puthenpally Ernakulam Dt Kerala. On 11 th March 1894 he was ordained priest. He played a unique and decisive role both in the life of Blessed Mariam Thresia as her spiritual guide and in the growth of the congregation as its animator in its initial years. After the death of Mariam Thresia with tender care and concern he continued to guide the twelve year old congregation until his death in 1964. He was a man of firm determination a scholarly priest, a reformer of society, a great clairvoyant and a dear father to all. On 8th June on the death anniversary of Mother Mariam Thresia , his spiritual daughter at 6.30 am he left the earthly life to possess the heavenly home. Rev. Fr. Joseph Vithayathil was officially declared Servant of God on 7th July 2004 by Bishop James Pazhayattil at Kuzhikkatusery.
